Oshiomhole: Buhari’s CBN Printed ₦31 Trillion, Crashed Naira Like Zimbabwe
Senator Adams Oshiomhole has accused the Central Bank of Nigeria, under former President Muhammadu Buhari, of wrecking the naira through “reckless and excessive” money printing.
Speaking in Benin City during a Progressives Governors Forum session, Oshiomhole said over ₦31 trillion was printed under the guise of ‘Ways and Means’, leading to inflation and currency collapse. He likened Nigeria’s situation to Zimbabwe and Idi Amin’s Uganda, where currencies became worthless due to unchecked printing.
According to Oshiomhole, the CBN used complex economic jargon to hide unsustainable borrowing, pushing Nigeria toward a fiscal crisis without real economic growth to back it up.
