Donald Trump Hosts Zelensky at White House, Raises Hopes for Ukraine-Russia Peace Deal

US President Donald Trump raised hopes for a possible peace deal between Ukraine and Russia on Monday as he welcomed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky for high-stakes talks at the White House.

The meeting marked their first encounter since a tense Oval Office dispute in February and came just days after Trump’s summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska.

Despite sharp disagreements over the concessions Trump has urged Ukraine to make, the US President expressed optimism about ending the conflict, sparked by Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022.

Trump said there was a “good chance” for peace, signaling cautious optimism as negotiations continue.
