President Bola Tinubu has described former Super Eagles goalkeeper Peter Rufai as a legend who “wrote his name in gold” in the sporting history of Nigeria and Africa.
Tinubu said the late footballer’s legacy would continue to live on in the hearts of Nigerians and football lovers around the world.
The President also highlighted Rufai’s participation in the 1998 World Cup in France and noted his pioneering role in professionalising Nigerian football, having played in Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Spain.
