
The bill, sponsored by Senator Jimoh Ibrahim (APC, Ondo South), passed its third reading in the Senate on Wednesday after the Senate committee on Solid Minerals Development presented its report.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio praised the initiative, describing it as a step toward unlocking Nigeria’s potential in the solid minerals sector.
He stated that establishing the Bitumen Development Commission will help regulate and promote bitumen exploration and production, create jobs, and boost economic growth.
