Saudi Arabia’s ‘Sleeping Prince’ Dies at 36 After 19 Years in Coma

Prince Al-Waleed bin Khalid Al-Saud, popularly known as Saudi Arabia’s “Sleeping Prince,” has died at the age of 36.

The prince had spent nearly two decades in a coma following a devastating car crash in London in 2005, when he was just 15 years old. The accident left him with a brain haemorrhage and internal bleeding, leading to a persistent vegetative state from which he never recovered.

His passing marks the end of a 19-year vigil that had drawn attention across the Arab world, with many following updates about his condition and praying for his recovery.
