Peter Obi Declares Intention to Contest 2027 Presidential Election
Opposition leader and former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has confirmed he will contest for the office of President in the 2027 general election, dismissing rumours that he plans to be a running mate to Atiku Abubakar.
“I’m going to contest for the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and I believe I am qualified for it,” Obi stated during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics programme.
Obi also noted that he is part of a coalition that aims to produce a president with the “capacity and compassion” needed to rescue Nigeria.
