First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Urges Super Falcons to Aim for FIFA Women’s World Cup Title

The wife of Nigeria’s President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has challenged the Super Falcons to go beyond continental glory and set their sights on winning the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Speaking on Monday during a presidential reception at the State House in Abuja, hosted by President Bola Tinubu in honor of the team’s 2024 WAFCON victory, the First Lady expressed confidence in the team’s ability to compete at the global level.

“I told Mr. President this morning that you need to win the World Cup, and he thought I was too ambitious — and [Rasheedat] Ajibade just seconded that. That is really possible,” she said, drawing laughter from the players.

She continued:

“To our champions — let this be a stepping stone to even greater achievement. Nigeria believed in you, and I have faith in you. The future of women’s football is bright, and you are leading the charge.”
