Manchester City have reached a verbal agreement with highly-rated academy graduate Nico O’Reilly over a new contract, putting an end to speculation about a potential move away from the Etihad Stadium.
The 20-year-old midfielder, regarded as one of City’s brightest young talents, will officially sign a new deal in the coming days. This decision comes after Bayer Leverkusen had two bids rejected, with other Premier League clubs also showing interest in the player.
City, determined to keep O’Reilly, began negotiations months ago and have now secured his long-term commitment. A new shirt number is expected to be announced as he continues to integrate with the first-team squad under Pep Guardiola.
