The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the recovery of the decomposed body of Ayo Aiyepeku, a photojournalist reportedly murdered by Oluwapelumi Adebayo, an officer of the Nigeria Correctional Service in Lokoja.
Police spokesperson William Aya revealed that the body was discovered on Sunday evening in Zone 8, inside a bush near the JAMB office in Lokoja. The recovery followed complaints from residents about a foul odour, prompting a search of the area.
“The corpse of Ayo Aiyepeku has been deposited at the Kogi State Specialist Hospital, Lokoja, for further examination,” Aya said.
He assured that a discreet investigation is ongoing to uncover the circumstances surrounding the alleged murder.
The incident has sparked concerns among media professionals and residents, calling for swift justice and transparency in the investigation.
