House Committee Gives Rivers Sole Administrator 48-Hour Ultimatum Over N24bn CCTV Scandal

Reps Give Rivers Sole Administrator 48-Hour Deadline Over N24bn CCTV Budget

The House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee on Rivers State has given the state’s Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd), 48 hours to submit a detailed breakdown of key allocations in the proposed 2025 budget, including the controversial N24 billion set aside for CCTV installation at the Government House.

The committee’s chairman and House Majority Leader, Rep. Julius Ihonvbere (APC, Edo), issued the directive on Monday during a budget defence session in Abuja, expressing concern over several line items in the N1.48 trillion Appropriation Bill.

He noted that after reviewing the budget presented by the administrator, the committee had identified multiple issues and directed the submission of the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), a legal prerequisite for budget presentation.
