Dalai Lama Says He Will Have A Successor After His Death

The Dalai Lama stated on Wednesday that the 600-year-old Tibetan spiritual tradition would continue after his death, assuring Buddhists worldwide that his office alone would choose his successor, despite China’s claims that it would handle the matter.

Supporters praise the Dalai Lama for his persistent efforts to secure greater autonomy for Tibet, a large high-altitude region in China roughly the size of South Africa.
