Musawa: Presidency Should Remain in Southern Nigeria for Equity

The Minister of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, has said the presidency should remain in southern Nigeria in the next term to ensure equity and balance.

Nigeria operates an unofficial power-sharing arrangement between the North and South, with each region taking turns to produce the president. President Bola Tinubu, from the South-West, succeeded former President Muhammadu Buhari, who is from the North-West.

While debates continue over which region should produce the president in the 2027 elections, especially with the emergence of a new coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Musawa maintained that power should remain in the South for fairness.
