Judge Blocks Trump’s Order to Restrict Birthright Citizenship
A federal judge on Thursday halted President Donald Trump’s order restricting birthright citizenship, as legal challenges continue following the US Supreme Court’s recent ruling limiting nationwide injunctions against presidential policies.
The Supreme Court’s conservative majority had delivered a landmark decision in late June curbing judges’ powers to issue broad injunctions. However, several judges had already blocked Trump’s efforts to end the constitutional guarantee that grants automatic US citizenship to anyone born on American soil.
