Wimbledon Line Technology Fails Again During Fritz vs. Khachanov Quarter-Final
Wimbledon’s under-fire electronic line-calling system suffered another embarrassing malfunction during Taylor Fritz’s quarter-final victory over Karen Khachanov on Tuesday.
Swedish umpire Louise Azemar Engzell was forced to stop a point in the opening game of the fourth set on Court One after the system incorrectly called “fault” on a Fritz forehand that had landed well inside the baseline.
The incorrect call, instead of “out,” and the system’s tracking of the ball’s position indicated it was still following Fritz’s serve rather than the rally, forcing the point to be replayed.
