Paul Pogba Signs Two-Year Deal with Monaco to Relaunch His Career

Paul Pogba has signed a two-year contract with AS Monaco, aiming to revive a once-glittering career that has been hampered by injuries and a doping ban.

Monaco confirmed the move on their website and shared a video on X showing the 32-year-old wearing the club’s iconic red-and-white jersey. This marks Pogba’s first stint in Ligue 1, with Monaco offering him the chance to return to Champions League football if they progress through qualifiers after finishing third last season.

Pogba, who developed at Le Havre before joining Manchester United at 16, was once among the world’s best midfielders but has faced challenges off the pitch in recent years. In 2023, he tested positive for testosterone and initially received a four-year ban, later reduced to 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport after it was ruled he had no intent to dope.

Despite these setbacks, Pogba has had a decorated career, including a then-world record €105 million transfer back to Manchester United in 2016, 91 caps for France, and a goal in the 2018 World Cup final as Les Bleus defeated Croatia. Kylian Mbappé welcomed the move on Instagram with “Pogback” and “Daghe Munegu” (“Go Monaco”).

After leaving Juventus last year, Pogba has been a free agent, with injuries restricting him to just 12 games in his second spell at the club. His move to Monaco signals the club’s ambition to challenge seriously for the Ligue 1 title next season after falling short despite a strong start last year.
