A devastating canoe mishap in Zangwan Maje village, Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State, has claimed the lives of six children, with two others still unaccounted for. The incident occurred on Sunday, July 27, 2025, as confirmed by a statement from the Jigawa State Police Command on Tuesday.
According to the report, the canoe was carrying 15 children returning from Jejin Gunka farm when it capsized due to flooding, strong winds, and overloading. Authorities said search and rescue operations are ongoing, with emergency teams working to locate the missing.
